Current New Mexico law evaluates major party status by how many votes your party's Gubernatorial candidate receives. So while it's too late to make much of any impact on the 2000 General Election, for purpose of obtaining major party status let's "kill two birds with one stone" by collecting signatures for our Third Party candidate for Governor as our most direct and efficient way of obtaining major party status.


Here are the guidelines we have to follow from the 1997 Edition of the Election Handbook of the State of New Mexico.
