Why "Green 17"?

Are you a registered Green Party voter?

Bernalillo County, New Mexico, now, has over 4,500 members in the Green Party. The Green Party within each county is it's own separate entity. Currently, there's a failure of communication between the vast membership and the BCGP decisions being made by a very small handful of people who attend the business meetings of the Green Party of Bernalillo County (which are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month).

Some of the main Green Party values includes decentralization and grassroots democracy. In order to develop a channel of communication, intensify outreach, increase the visibility of Greens within the community, and just have fun: the Green Party members within State Senate district 17 (which is south of Lomas Blvd).

Precincts

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, State Senate district 17 includes these precincts: 282, 283, 284, 285, 286, 287, 292, 293, 312, 318, 321, 322, 323, 326, 327, 328, 329, 330, 477, & 478.

A candidate from last year said that "it's too hard for people to figure out which State Senate district they're in". Right. It's so "hard" that it requires grabbing your wallet and pulling out your voter registration card which states which district number you're in.

The Democratic Party in New Mexico used to be successful when they had precinct captains. I'm thinking that we en masse register Green voters in a particular precinct on the Sunday following our monthly meeting. So, we'll sweep through the district on a 20-month cycle.

Something very suspicious is going on within the Green Party of Bernalillo County. There are a lot of liars and backstabbers. In 1994 I tried to start the Evergreen newsletter, but Ted Cloak told people not to work with me.

In March 1999, On the GreenForum, Jack Bateman lied that I was a militia member. When I tried to defend myself, the webmaster, Angus Smith-Grieve, knocked me off the email listserve so that no one could read my defense against Bateman's false accusations.

The most novel impactful economic motherlode idea is my
Alternative Housing Institute, yet only one Green bothered to attend my bi-weekly meetings and he was operating on some other agenda.

So, the so-called Greens who are friends of Ted Cloak are NOT operating on a progressive agenda.

Where are the REAL Greens?

How to Prevent a Green Train Wreck

How to find who are the saboteurs of the Green Party:

1- They want you to waste your time and money on candidacies other than in a local race (a third party candidate running against major party candidates with a $2 million and $6 million warchest is not a LOCAL race).

2 - They back-stab and slander Greens who don't agree with their agenda.

3 - They make excuses to get us whistleblowers knocked off of the GreenForum listserve.

Near Heights
Metropolitan Redevelopment Area

Precincts included within the Near Heights MRA are: all of 283, 286, 318, 326, and portions of 275, 281, 282, 284, 285, 287, 311, 312, 323, 327, and 477. This area overlaps about half of State Senate district 17.

Within Albuquerque, it's this MRA, in particular, that I believe that the Green Party should concentrate on organizing. With the $130 million that will be spent over the next 10 years revitalizing this portion of Albuquerque, the Green Party has a fabulous opportunity to instill Green Party values regarding responsible economic growth involving sustainability and the consideration of ecolonomics.

Military Management
Threatens Public Lands

Millions of acres of public lands in Alaska, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico which have been used for military training may be transferred to the Department of Defense (DOD) according to an alert from Forest Guardians. These public lands include critical habitat for the endangered Sonoran pronghorn antelope, hundreds of thousands of acres of
wilderness study area and national historic sites.

. . .The DOD has a very poor record of protecting natural resources and should not gain control of these wildlands. Please contact the Council on Environmental Quality and tell them that the Department of Interior is the proper manager for this land, not the DOD. Please call George Frampton, Chair of the Council of Environmental Quality (CEQ), at 202/456-6224 or fax 456-2710.

REWILDING:
The 1999 Forest Reform Rally

Utah's High Uinta Mountains
Salt Lake City, UT

The Forest Reform Rally is sponsored this year by the Wild Utah Forest Campaign (a project of American Lands) and the Forest Reform Network. The event will take place in the inspiring High Uinta Mountains at Camp Steiner, only 1.5-2 hours east of Salt Lake City on the Mirror Lake Highway.

The most comprehensive agenda of forest issues ever is planned for REWILDING: the 13th Annual Forest Reform Rally and the first in the West since 1993. Roadless areas, ending commercial logging, Big Wild, endangered species recovery, landscape restoration, corporate campaigns, forests and climate change, the WTO and forests, demand reduction, forest plan revision, fire ecology, grazing and mining, ORVs and other recreational threats to wildlands, non-federal forestland protection, and many more issues will be addressed. You don't want to miss the important information, discussion, and strategic planning sessions.

The Rally will also be an exciting opportunity to see one of America's wildest regions, the High Uintas. Camp Steiner is located on the border of the High Uintas Wilderness Area in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This is the largest wilderness in Utah (460,000 acres) and one of the 20 largest wilderness areas in the lower 48 states. The camp is surrounded by striking old growth spruce/fir forests which are home to wolverine, lynx, pine marten, and wolves.

Field trips and skills sharing sessions will be held Friday; workshops and plenary sessions will begin Friday afternoon and continue until Sunday afternoon. Accommodations will be in three-sided Adirondak log cabins or in tentsites. The cabins are dorm style; showers and toilets are located nearby. Meals will be buffet style with vegetarian options.

A package of registration, 2 nights lodging and six meals is $65 for cabin dwellers and $45 for tentsites. Registration alone is $35 before 8/18 and $45 after; non-package rates for accomodations are cabins, $16 a night per person; tentsites, $10 a nite per person, and $6 per meal.

Please email your registration today to Susan Ash at email to:
wufc@xmission.com; checks should be made out to American Lands and sent to American Lands, 726 7th Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003.

September 10-12 is the time to travel to Utah; take in the Rally, see the High Uintas, and explore Southern Utah's Canyon Country, the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem, or other regional attractions as your schedule allows. Make the most of your fall -- join us at REWILDING: the 1999 Forest Reform Rally!

Do you have a contribution to make to a congressional hearing? Even if you can't go to Washington to testify, you may be able to get your position in the record. It's simple! Call the committee or subcommittee involved (the Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121), tell the staffer in charge of the hearing you want to submit a written statement and ask for instructions.
